Caverna de Las Brujas
(Cavern of the Witches)

Located at the entrance of the famous cavern on the Mount Moncol, at a height of 1930 m. above sea level. The most varied and spectacular forms can be found inside the cavern, either carved in the vaulted walls due to the water, or formed by dripstone in the form of ancient stalagmites and stalactites. Such formations give rise to the most unknown and fantastic shapes, which then name the different rooms. The Virgin Room, the Columns Room and the Flowers Room are some of the galleries that can be visited by the tourists, who always have to be accompanied by a guide, since it is not allowed to get in alone or to touch the images. Taking into account that these formations take a long time to form (they grow 1cm every 1300 years), their preservation is really necessary. Even though more than 5000 m. of galleries have been walked so far, the totality of this mazelike route hasn’t been discovered yet. Going out of the cavern, the Petrified Forests can be visited. These offer another important place to admire, since in the locality of Bardas Blancas there are petrified araucarias that are more than 120 million years old.
